I have not been called a fascist racist cunt for a few days, so thought I would change that with a post about you-know-who!
Whenever people bring up Trump in conversation and how horrible he is I always ask "what did you dislike about his Presidency?". The answer I usually get is one of two things.
- Either one of the several hoaxes brought up (like, "Come on! He told people to inject bleach to cure COVID!", or "He called white supremacists 'very fine people!'", or several other well-debunked hoaxes - I'll get into that below).
- Or, "he's just so unpleasant!".
I literally never hear an argument against a policy he brought in. And it's because all his policies were pretty mainstream, and you can't specifically hate Trump for a policy that is generally accepted amongst approximately 50% of the population.
So why was the President so loved by so many, and so hated by so many? I blame it on a constant stream of Democrat and big media / big tech misinformation that programmed so many folks to hate Trump. Let's go over just some of the misinformation.
The Koi Pond Hoax
The media circulated edited video of Trump dumping a bunch of leftover fish food into the Koi pond when visiting the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, claiming it was bad form and dangerous to the fish.
One of many misleading headlines |
It turns out Abe had done the same thing seconds earlier.
Ask yourself - why was this easily debunked hoax story circulated so widely at the time in mainstream media and on social media?
In other words, why they lie to us?
The Fine People Hoax
After Charlottesville, Trump was accused of saying neo-nazis and white supremacists were "very fine people" using edited video and transcripts. The full video and transcript makes clear he was saying exactly the opposite.
Here's the full debunk:
Why they lie to us?
The Drinking Bleach Hoax
Trump was accused of telling people to "drink bleach" or "inject bleach" to cure COVID. Now, just ask yourself, would an intelligent man (graduated University, graduated from the most prestigious Wharton school of business, built a multi-billion dollar real estate empire, successfully ran for President) really say that? Of course not, and he did not. He was referring to an experimental therapy discussed in the same presser 20 minutes earlier that involves injecting UV light as a disinfectant into the lungs. The video was taken out of context (before and after).
Here is what he actually said in context:
"A question that probably some of you are thinking of if you’re totally into that world, which I find to be very interesting. So, supposedly we hit the body with a tremendous, whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful light, and I think you said that hasn’t been checked, but you’re going to test it. And then I said supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way. (To Bryan) And I think you said you’re going to test that, too. Sounds interesting, right?
And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning, because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that, so that you’re going to have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds interesting to me. So, we’ll see, but the whole concept of the light, the way it kills it in one minute. That’s pretty powerful."
Why they lie to us?
The Mocking Disabled Reporter Hoax
Trump was accused of mocking a disabled reporter by making spastic motions on stage during one of his rallies. In fact there are video montages of him doing the exact same motion mocking all sorts of other not disabled people.
Why they lie to us?
The Not Denouncing Racists Hoax
It was stated after the 2020 debates that Trump has never disavowed white supremacists and neo-nazis. There is a video compilation of Trump doing exactly that over 30 times in public that put lie to that, interspersed with Democrat politicians and media claiming otherwise.
Why they lie to us?
The Russiagate Hoax
This was the doozy. It was claimed that Trump colluded with Russia to sway the outcome of the 2016 election (ironically, Democrats claimed that election was "stolen" and objected in Congress, just like the other side did in 2020). This has proven to be 100% nonsense by the 3 year, $36M, Mueller investigation that concluded that nobody with ties to Trump colluded with Russia.
More recently it has been shown that the entire investigation was predicated on the "Steele Dossier", which was a complete fabrication paid for by Hillary Clinton and the Democrat campaign. Entrenched management at the CIA, FBI, and DOJ colluded to keep the investigation going and to literally spy on the Trump campaign without any reasonable predicate.
The media breathlessly covered this for 3 solid years. Slimy Democrat politicians such as Schiff claimed they had seen incontrovertible evidence that never materialized. Pelosi, Schumer, Nadler, and others kept the division going doing much harm to the country in the process. Moreover, they knew it was bullshit from the start.
Here is one of many beakdowns of this hoax, this one from the New York Post:
Why they lie to us?
I could go on and on with the media hoaxes. I think the moderate left is starting to wake up to all of this? One too many hoaxes perhaps?
And I could get into the things I consider the more controversial hoaxes, such as the Mexican Rapists hoax, the Shithole Countries hoax. the Ukraine impeachment hoax, the Jan 6 Impeachment hoax, the rigged election hoax, and so on, and happy to debate those in the comments (pick your favourite), but the obvious hoaxes above should give you some pause, no?
So, ask yourself, outside of his mean tweets and "unpresidential" conduct, really ask yourself why do you hate him so much? And ask yourself if you approve of all these media hoaxes because "the end justifies the means".
Can you even state the other side's position? Why do they think Trump was actually good for the country?
I copied the Trump administration's list of accomplishments to this page: Trump Administration Accomplishments. There are over 600 detailed items on that list, which is a tremendous amount of activity for any administration, but here is a summary of some hilights:
- Juiced
the economy resulting in GDP growth rate and job creation well above
any predictions, with historically low-levels of unemployment amongst
minorities. Did this through a combination of trade deals, tax cuts
(corporations and middle/lower class included), and elimination of
redundant regulation.
- Created Opportunity Zones to encourage investment in underprivileged spots.
- Achieved strategically important US energy independence, and brought energy prices to the low levels putting an average of $2500 back in the pockets of the typical family.
- Rebuilt the military and ended all territorial aspirations of ISIS, took out prominent terrorist leaders.
- Double the child tax credit and expanded eligibility. Expanded apprenticeship programs. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act expanded School Choice, allowing parents to use up to $10,000 from a 529 education savings account to cover K-12 tuition costs at the public, private, or religious school of their choice. Signed an executive order that ensures public universities protect First Amendment rights or they will risk losing funding.
- On COVID, suspended travel from China very early, made ventilators and PPE ubiquitously available, provided additional federal hospital capacity, created world-leading testing infrastructure, launched Operation Warp Speed that enabled manufacturers to quickly produce vaccines ($13B in seed money), setup the logistics infrastructure to deliver vaccines when ready. Passed the $2.3T CARES act to support Americans impacted by COVID.
- Took actions to
remove burdensome regulations on healthcare getting in the way of
competition and finalized legislation for transparency in health care
pricing. Lowered drug prices. Passed "right to try".
- Remade the Federal Judiciary by confirming 230 solid judges to interpret the letter of the law, not act as activists, including 57 court of appeals judges and 3 supreme court justices.
- Drastically reduced illegal immigration at the southern border, and stemmed the flow of deadly fentanyl crossing that border. Declared the opioid crisis a nationwide public health emergency and made historic progress in fighting the crisis.
- Advanced peace through strength in dealings with North Korea, Iran, China, and Russia. Sent armaments to the Ukraine. Forced NATO partners to pay what they agreed. Supported Israel, moving the embassy to Jerusalem, recognizing the Golan heights as part of Israel, and brokering the most comprehensive peace deal since the founding of Israel.
- Multiple initiatives to support Veterans, including the VA Choice and Quality Employment Act.
- Pushed for and signed the "First Step Act" to reduce recidivism and give prisoners re-entering society a leg up.
- Supported law enforcement across the board.
- Invested $38B in clean water infrastructure. Achieved historic levels of cleanup by the EPA. Restored public access to Federal land. Recovered more endangered or threatened species than any other administration in its first term.
Go read the full list of Trump Administration Accomplishments if you want to fill in the details on some of those things and see additional actions the Trump administration took.
All in all, I think he was a pretty good prez. I can certainly understand why Democrat voters might prefer a different prez (but really, Biden? Kamala? Really?). But why so much hate from a group that supposedly rejects hate? I honestly don't get it.
Please "bring it on" in the comments, but please try to keep it civil.
Julie
ReplyDeleteI love you more than ever. This is Jerry for the last 4 plus years I check and enjoy reading your post on your adventures as you touch on every fantasy I enjoy on both sides of the brush first thing every morning. (Usally resulting in activityfrom my little friend)You two are very lucky to have each other. I also enjoy your pen pal stories especially the shopping trips. The fact that you get American politics so right just makes me love you even more. You are so right but please don't confuse the liberals with facts they refuse to read them let alone understand them. Such courage on your part is uncommon today . Thank you for all you do for us.( especially me)
Hi Jerry - thanks so much for the affirming comment. As I said, I just don't get where all the hate comes from.
DeleteAs I mentioned in another post, I hate anybody who attacks legal immigration. Trump just happened to be the previous president.
ReplyDeleteBeyond this my dislike of him is because he is a narcissistic con man scumbag who isn't too bright. I just have a low opinion of him as a human being because of his conduct throughout the years (not limited to his term as president and nothing to do with his presidency/policies). He is just not a good person.
I don't think he's attacking it, he did want to change up the rules in certain ways. You mentioned the H1-B program previously. The H-1B program was designed to hire temporary foreign workers where American workers could not be found. It was somewhat abused by tech corporations to hire cheap foreign labour, and he tightened that up. When I look at the US Labour website it says nothing about guaranteeing a path to immigration.
DeleteAll the words you use in your dislike of Trump provide nothing specific. What in particular did he do that so offended you, outside of his immigration policies. What leads you to believe he is a "scumbag"?
This has to be a multi part answer:
DeletePart 1:
The H1B program is a non-immigrant but dual intent visa. It is a visa and therefore has nothing to do with citizenship. But the way you get citizenship is by applying for a PR (employment sponsored since most H1B workers wont have relatives in the US) and then apply for citizenship once you have atleast 5 years residency. The problem is however that it takes 25 years to get an employment sponsored PR. The US govt should make it easier to get that PR for highly skilled workers, as stability is the most important thing in immigration. But instead of doing that, the Trump administration did the following: (am not mentioning everything, just a few outrageous ones):
- Removed H1B premium processing or indefinitely suspended it. Premium processing helped H1B workers move jobs within the US, as paying an extra $1200 meant that the visa will be processed in 2 weeks as opposed to the regular timeframe of 4 to 6 months. Removing premium processing resulted in people not being able to move jobs (which company will wait 4 to 6 months before you get a visa and what if after all that time the visa was rejected?). H1B visas are issued for a max validity of 3 years, so at the end of 3 years, if the processing time is 4 to 6 months, companies may choose to simply let their employees go, which results in H1B workers having to uppend their lives that they have built all these years, and creates a self deportation scenario.
- Random denials of H1B visa extensions for the SAME job for which visas were issued previously . Several of my friends after having spent 10 years in the US in the same job, had to apply for work visas in Canada because their H1B visa extensions were suddenly denied, apparently for no solid reason and they hastily had to move. My friend currently is in Toronto, while his wife and his kid are in the US and he isn't able to go back because of this nonsense. He is currently working on getting a Canadian PR.
Delete- The Obama administration allowed high skilled partners of H1B workers on H4 visas to work. The Trump administration planned to rescind it - not sure if they did that, as I moved out by that time. If they did, now you have people who are highly skilled and highly employable, but can’t work or if they previously did work, they would have to be fired and let go.
-Tradionally H1B visas were issued for 3 years as a standard. Under the Trump administration these visas were randomly issued for 1 month, 3 months, 18 months etc seemingly for no reason. Which firm is willing to spend 10,000 USD every month or every 18 months to sponsor an employee? Again resulted in lots of people being let go and having to return home after living here for decades. A lot of my friends had to scramble to sell of property, pull their kids out of school and it was heart breaking to see these talented, well meaning, hard working people be thrown out of the country like that.
-Your H1B visa is valid only as long as our payroll is running. If your payroll isn’t running (meaning you are fired), you need to immediately leave the country to avoid being out of status. So for example if you are fired at 5pm, you need to be on a plane at 11:59pm that day, in order to not be out of status. Traditionally when something like this happens, (say you are fired), you didn’t leave immediately. You stayed even through you were out of status, searched fo ra job and then applied for another H1B, but stated in your letter that you had an out of status period, which USCIS considered okay as long as it was within 30 to 60 days. Trump changed policies, so an out of status case could actually mean that you could be summoned by an immigration court and deported. Even if you intend to leave the country asap, how can you if ou had property, kids etc? I mean even packing up will take atleast 2 weeks! And once they deport you, it automatically carries a ban - 5 years, 10 years, 20 years or lifetime.
These are just some of the attacks that this administration did.
Also, Trump didn’t really tighten anything up. Infosys, TCS, and other outsourcing firms still got their share of H1B visas and they are still doing what they did earlier.
Part 3
DeleteAs for him being a scumbag just go through his history over the last 3 decades. His business practices, his personal life, the way he treats people, his attitude towards things and so on. Its too long of a list to type here.
Part 1 and 2 sound very annoying for foreign workers, I agree. But it does sound like they were putting the "temporary" back into the H-1B, and it was fouled up by the bureaucracy. But his fault if under his watch.
DeletePart 3 is very unspecific. Pick the one very worst thing on your big list and tell us about that one.
There is nothing about those policy changes that put the "temporary" back into the H1B. Like if a person wants to switch jobs, why suspend premium processing? The person is not requesting a PR, they are just moving jobs. Like I said the H1B is a dual intent visa - to be temporarily present with an intent to immigrate. These guys were actively trying to screw over highly skilled workers so they dont immigrate as that was his administrations official policy.
DeletePart 3 is intentionally unspecific. Its not one worst thing he has done. Everything from how he has conducted business, evaded taxes, treated people like crap (like cheating people when playing golf for example lol), not paying people for their services, cheating on his wife with a pornstar while she was pregnant with his kid, not having a sense of humor (Penn Jillette on joe rogan said how "empty" he found trump and his lack of a sense of humor), his lack of basic manners and many many others. If you read his relative's book (that lady who was his niece was it?), and several notes that have been published, you'd see why people generally have a low opinion of him. He is just not a good person.
Nothing on your list sounds very specific or unique to Trump. "Evaded tax", what does that mean? Did he break a law or did he organize things to minimize his tax legally? No sense of humour? Cheat on a golf game (allegedly)? I think he has a great sense of humour. Celebrity fucking a porn star? Shocker! I challenged you to give me the single worst thing that justifies your extreme hatred, but you sort of came up empty.
DeleteAsking for a "single worst thing" is disingenuous as it relates to disliking someone. You dont dislike someone for one thing. He is a horrible person thats it. Its his whole person - his vibe, his personality, characteristics, mannerisms, his history with people and his conduct in various situations etc. Plenty of anecdotes have been published regarding these things. Just google about it and you will read plenty. Why do I have to come up with ONE thing? What does that even prove?
DeleteAlso anything specific and you will simply attempt to shrug it off as you have done in your previous answer (Celebrity fucked a pornstar, shocker!) as you come here with an agenda to defend him, so there is that.
Oh btw a lot of it may not be unique to Trump sure. There are scumbags like him everywhere. So what? We are talking about Trump here.
DeleteIt proves you only have very non-specific complaints about a man you've never met, but have been fed a stream of negative media narratives about since he descended the escalator. Check.
DeleteIf you ignore policy, then your admiration for Trump, a man you have never met, is similarly non-specific fed to you by right wing media.
DeleteAlso I dont consider narratives from people close to Trump as "media narratives". Several books from co-workers, aides and relatives have all talked at length about the kind of person he is. Those are specific enough.
I also cannot ignore the fact that my dislike of Trump started in the early 2000s, when he wasn't even controversial. Something about the man, rubbed me the wrong way. Call it irrational, but intuitions are a thing.
I admire what he accomplished, so there's no ignoring policy.
DeleteIt's because he's an asshat and treats people like crap.
ReplyDeleteSounds brainwashy. Specifics? Pick the one worst thing and tell us about it.
Delete"It's because he's an asshat and treats people like crap."
DeleteWhat the fuck does that mean?
It means he is an asshat and treats people like crap.
DeleteThat was not me that repeated my original anonymous comment, but they seem to agree. I have no intention of debating specifics because I don’t care to. I’m never sure which side’s lies to believe.
DeleteWhat I was referring to is that I cannot vote for or support a person that treats people the way he does, before his presidency or during. He is not a good person in my view and I had to hold my nose when voting.
I am certainly not a liberal, as I am slightly right of center, but I have no respect for the Republican party right now. Neither party represents my viewpoint. Please Republicans, give me a presidential candidate that I can vote for, please. And that also goes for the rest of the Republican party that is scared shitless of his wrath. Grow a spine and stop being political cuckolds.
A very close friend, who is as conservative as they come and voted for him said, "He's simply low-class". Irrespective of his policies, he has no respect for the office other that he held a bully pulpit and was the center of the media’s attention. He used that masterfully. Like a mamma bear and her cub, don’t get between him and the camera. Simply put, he did whatever he wanted to do whenever he wanted to do it. Fuck the constitution, law or political norms.
That summarizes my view of the man. Crass, low-class, disrespectful. Just not a good person.
I don't want him representing our country.
I think he respected the constitution and the law, unless you can find a counter-example? I hear he is a good person. Brash for sure, an upper class guy who grew up on construction sites and so can relate to the regular guy as well, but has a big heart. Many stories of that. So we'll agree to disagree about a man neither of us knows.
DeleteJulie, thats literally the most naive take on Trump that I have ever read.
DeleteAnd bingo anon nailed it.
DeleteAll talk, no evidence. Talking trash about a guy you KNOW has been constantly lied about by all the places you get your news. Apologies if I don't take you seriously on this.
DeleteLiterally no one has lied about Trump when they criticized him. Its plain for everyone to see. An upper class guy who grew up on construction sites? lol. He is a lazy bum, with a silver spoon who went bankrupt twice and has used the media to sell his brand to the extent that he could become president. It was a disgrace. A guy that doesn't even know he has to close an umbrella before walking through a door, can relate to the regular guy? lol.
DeleteI literally gave you 6 fully proven examples in the post. It's amazing that your brainwashing does not allow you to see them.
DeleteBefore he was elected, Trump routinely didn't pay contractors who worked on his projects. He knew most of them didn't have the money to fight them in court. Nice guy, huh?
DeleteYeah, I've heard that too. On the flip side, I know a construction manager here in Toronto who says contractors routinely try to rip off, overcharge, cut corners, and so on, and you need to be super vigilant and super tough with them. In New York I imagine it's the worst. So I'd like to get both sides of that story. I remember a boss of mine said something about doing business in Mexico - yeah, you only do half of what you promised but they only pay you have of what was promised so it evens out. Wonder if any of that may have been going on and if the contractors were really the "innocent victims" you paint them to be?
DeleteI just want to point out there are more than one "Anonymous" here. I'm content to agree to disagree. I do that with those that I'm close to, as I won't let it divide us, and it makes life less stressful. Respectfully, Anonymous #1
DeleteNow please post some more juicy stuff! :-)
Lovely sentiment 💕
DeleteThank you!
Hugs and kisses Julie. Anonymnous #1.
DeleteHe whipped people into a frenzy and sent them to the Capitol to stop a valid election. He and his team never proved any fraud in an election. Republican election officials were honest and were threatened because they refused to buy his totally unsupported lies about the election. I also agree with those who say that he was viscerally disgusting, his insulting people, his being a total sore loser and trying to bring down our government to suit his wild ego. He has constantly called people names like a child and given the nod to white supremacists. You just don't want to see what he is in front of your eyes. Lastly, his kowtowing to Putin and behaving shamefully at Helsinki saying we were equivalent in the US to his killing his opponents.
ReplyDeleteNo, the timing is off. He ended his speech asking the protesters to make their way to the Capital and make their voices heard "peacefully and patriotically". The yahoos let into the capital (that you call an "insurrection") started earlier.
DeleteDo you object to peaceful protests? Do you blame the peaceful protesters for the rioters? If so, you must have a MASSIVE problem with the BLM inspired riots that collectively (and individually) did a hell of a lot more damage, injuries, and death, right?
And there was much to protest. Many changes in election procedures involving mail-in-ballots, harvesting, and signature verification not properly authorized by state legislatures that benefitted the Dems, made the election un-auditable, and left big holes that made fraud possible. Dems even bragged about it later. The courts refused to hear the cases for lack of jurisdiction or lack of practical remedy. Even the Supreme Court punted.
Similarly Hilary never proved any fraud in the 2016 election, but it did not stop the Dems from questioning the result, protesting the result in the streets, and objecting to it in Congress. And trying to bring down the government with a phony Russiagate hoax. Why are you treating those things so differently?
He never gave any nods to white supremacists and repeatedly publicly disavowed them (video evidence in my post).
All the rest of your personal dislike about a man you have never met seems to be fed to you by a biased left wing media narrative. I mean, where else do you get your info about Trump?
If there's anything specific you recall, something he said in a speech or something that makes you hate him so much, please share. There must be hundreds of concrete examples for you to feel this way. If you can't recall any specific things, think about that.
This has been already debunked by parts of What Julie Mentioned but also by the fact there were fringe groups that were waiting at the capitol building before Trump completed his speech and already planned going in without Trump. You should look at how politics is handled across the pond in the parliament building. Insulting the other side is quite the norm on the floor of parliament. At least he was being honest in his opinions and transparency unlike the current Socialist Commie in the Whitehouse who is a puppet and the least transparent presidential puppet in USA history.
DeleteAnd Sore loser, please the democrats knew the only way they could fudge an election was to use COVID to mass mail out ballots that could then not be easily tracked as valid when returned. Then all they had to do was intimidate the courts so they were too chicken to take any cases.
And Kowtowing to Putin LMAO - Biden just let Putin complete their pipeline to Germany and Europe. Meanwhile Biden is also not going to do a thing in Ukraine Putin will just wait until Biden sends billions of USA military's equipment over there so he can take that for free too just like the Taliban. Biden is a complete disgrace and utter failure Trump was way better.
Emily
I might not have stated it as strongly, Emily, but I cannot disagree.
DeleteHow about a life long Elected official that is worth 15 million dollars 3 homes and a son who made money selling America out. Neither have a job that produced anything. Or a Speaker of the House that has husband that runs a hedge fund and just bought a 25 million estate in Florida. He has been so lucky on guessing when government contracts are being awarded. Talk about a scumbag but they are just great investors on a congressional salary. BTW it is your blog Julie and you can discuss anything you want. Facts always hurt fiction.
ReplyDeleteYes. No person is perfect, and certainly no politician is perfect. But by the standards of Washington politicians, Trump is better than most for the simple reason he was too rich to be bought by the special interests. THAT was what freaked out establishment Washington.
DeleteWhat he accomplished? He made himself and his family richer and he destroyed political dialogue in the US. I’m a Republican abs he cost us the House and the Senate. He lied and promised he would show his taxes in 2016 if he won. His toddler like temperament harms had a tremendous impact on our society. One minor tantrum was when he canceled a diplomatic visit when he couldn’t buy Greenland. But a much worse one happened when he was soundly defeated by Joe Biden and he convinced people he had been robbed and they had a riot. Those are just two examples of how terrible he was but you’ll just dismiss them.
ReplyDeleteThat doesn’t even get to how badly he handled COVID. And I watched that press conference live, he definitely thought you could inject bleach into someone to kill COVID. The one great thing he did was lead an effort to get a vaccine and then he let his supporters believe it wasn’t worth getting because it would hurt the guy who beat him.
Just the opposite. His net worth took a hit from being prez.
DeleteHe was not required to show his taxes, and the reason he did not was because any small deduction or such would be spun by the opposition. His tax returns are vastly complicated and were prepared professionally and audited every year by an army of IRS.
If you believe he was serious about "buying Greenland" that says more about you. I should have covered that as a hoax also, but ran out of steam!
I discuss the election in my response to the comment above. I believe election protests were valid, and similar to what the Dems did in 2016. You are just applying a double standard.
I even gave you the full transcript of that press conference and he never mentioned "bleach" once and was clearly speaking about UV used as a disinfectant. The fact that you "heard it live" and refuse to go back and read/listen critically is a cognitive dissonance tell.
He recommended the vaccine completely at every point. I challenge you to find a public statement where he did not push the vaccine.
Data shows the US did fine compared to other countries on COVID deaths, despite having more olds and fats. And Biden has certainly not done any better. More deaths under him than Trump.
You mean the guy and girl that said in the debate that they would never take a vaccine that Trump was involved with. Why won't Biden allow dying patients take Therapeutics and why doesn't him and his staff talk about developing Therapeutics like President Trump did daily.
ReplyDeleteYes - Biden admin seems focused only on pushing vaccines, or more recently the super expensive pill. They act as if they are in the thrall of the drug companies.
DeleteWC here
ReplyDeleteOK
You’re a fascist racist cunt
But don’t feel bad half of the US agrees with you
Wow that's a well thought mature thought and we are all dumber for hearing it . We are all paying for that 50 % that agreed with you
DeleteWhen all else fails call everyone you disagree with a racist or fascist. Strait from the liberal playbook.
WC's alright - he's just teasing me.
DeleteWC here
DeleteYou’re right I was kidding
Kind of:)
I had no problems with most of his policies. Trade being the exception. He would have been President today, if he had played golf and kept his mouth shut in 2020. Of course, what do I know my IQ is barely above room temp.
ReplyDeleteI think he was for free trade, but when your 'free trade" partner is effectively tariffing you, you need to reciprocate before you can negotiate it back to free.
DeleteTrump was terrible and I could poke many holes in your post but you keep asking for specific ones. He definitely talked about injecting bleach to kill COVID. What do you think he meant when he said “disinfectant”? Nobody lied. Aides confirmed he thought the idea should be discussed because he had no grasp of medical reality. You have every right to share your political opinion but know that those that disagree with you are not just blind sheep. Some of your extreme arguments in this post point in the other direction but just tell me what he meant if not bleach.
ReplyDeleteI provided the actual quote he said in the above post. He did not say the word "bleach" at all. He was referring to Ultraviolet light as a disinfectant. It's super obvious if you just read it. Amazing how deep the hypnosis is.
DeleteI enjoy all views of this man, history will continue to exam him, maybe more than any other President. I read one view point that he is the reflection of this country, so why would anyone be upset. Jack
ReplyDeleteI think a more balanced view will emerge.
DeleteA more balanced view will emerge if an even worse president gets to power. Sort of like how George Bush Jr., is seen positively today, but was like the dumbest worst president when he was in power from 2000 to 2008. Otherwise Trump's legacy will always be used to justify a democratic leader.
DeleteBiden. Done. That was fast!
DeleteEh, Biden is considered a sigh of relief after Trump's disastrous 4 years. Try again.
DeleteDeluded
DeleteIf his admin was that great, he would be in power right now.
DeleteWell, he did win the election ;-)
DeleteAnd am the one that is deluded lol
Delete"Eh, Biden is considered a sigh of relief after Trump's disastrous 4 years. Try again."
DeleteBRING BACK TRUMP - LET's GO Brandon
I'd love for Trump and a mean tweet over Biden's failed puppet presidency any day that moron doesn't know which day it is.
Emily
I did a winky so you got to be nice.
DeleteYes lets elect more old men in their death beds to the presidency!
DeleteI agree that voters ought to assess the health of the candidates and vote accordingly.
DeleteI wonder if many people formed a negative opinion of Trump from his tv stint on the Apprentice.
ReplyDeleteI thought he was pretty reasonable on the show , but he was pretty hard on some 'apprentices' , but a lot of people do not like bosses and think they are bullies.
I also think a lot of people , especially left thinking , resented his wealth and success ?
In reality, when you compare Trump to how people like the Clintons, Obama and Biden accumulated their wealth he is to be admired.
If you look at the facts he had the US on the right track and his administration was completely free of any corruption , unlike the aforementioned predecessors.
I agree. It was pretty clean all around.
DeleteThat you think his administration was completely free of corruption, is hilarious.
DeleteI doubt completely free, but you must have several significant examples in mind if you make that claim. Pick one.
DeleteThe quid pro quo controversy with Ukraine to discredit Biden. The EPA chief Scott Pruitt ethics issues. Bringing family members into the administration - nepotism 101. Just to pick a few.
DeleteBiden discredited himself by putting Hunter in as a very well paid Burisma board member then getting the prosecutor chasing Burisma fired.
DeleteEverything Pruitt was accused of was small potatoes for Washington. He was chased out by the Dems for being too effective.
Jared and Ivana? They both did great work. Jared brought peace to the Middle East for Christ's sake!
Yes Jared bought so much peace to the middle east that Israel bombed the shit out of Gaza earlier this year. Or maybe I misunderstand. Maybe he brokered peace only until Jan 6, 2020. lmao.
DeleteBiden and Burisma - Matter what biden did. Trump's quid pro quo was corruption.
Pruitt - It was such small potatoes that he resigned.
Ummmm... I believe it was Gaza that launched a zillion rockets onto Israeli civilians, followed up by some very measured precision Israeli response.
DeleteThe peace deal was between Israel and certain Muslim states and is historic. Eventually the terrorists in Gaza will lack all support because of this.
One last thought in this household my wife will tolerate so much and she knows I sometime get worked up on this subject. She allows me so much and then tells me, enough, meaning get those pants and underpants down, the bath brush is going to do the talking. It talks loud and long. Jack
ReplyDeleteShe spanks you for any pro-Trump statements? Ha ha!
DeleteNo, when I get to carried way on politics in general. Jack
DeleteI'm going to say this, not in tune with the subject, but I need to tell you. I have learned from you that my desire to be spanked goes deeper than i thought. I have learned also that my wife, understands me, knows that the spankings are what I need and knows I will find ways to get a spanking. So Thank-You, and it was recently that listening to you, learning from you that I walked into the front room, naked, bath brush in hand, handed it to my wife who just smiled, took the bath brush, said your learning and once off of your lap i said Thank-You Mommy, she just pointed to the wall, Yes Mommy I said. Later she told me it was good that I finally learned spankings are more than you think and you best Thank Julie. So I'm thanking you, sitting on a very spanked bottom and squirming. Jack
DeleteThank you for your note, jack, and my pleasure.
DeleteSo many half-truths and outright misinformation I thought I was reading Fox Propaganda Channel with this post!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnywho, a couple of corrections to your misinformation...
Bleach - William Bryan of the Homeland Security dept. discusses ultraviolet light AND disinfectant in comments he made. Then, in a briefing, Trump mentions ultraviolet light and then starts the next comment with the word AND then discusses disinfectant. AND as in also. NOT ultraviolet light as a disinfectant...AND as in ALSO...
And (Also,) here's the thing: Why is the President, who is not a medical expert, acting like he is? Twist it however you want, Julie, but this is what happened AND the result was people died from ingesting bleach because they clearly understood what he said when he said it.
CORONAVIRUS - Trump did take immediate action, to his credit, to stop the spread by closing the border, but with ONLY China. The virus came into the U.S. via other countries, mostly European. And while none of that is actually his or anyone else's fault, Trump was mainly inactive throughout the initial days and for many months into the virus. He DID enact the NDA, but then DID NOTHING TO MAKE IT ACTUALLY HAPPEN! To enact something and then have no clue as to what to do is not a win, Julie! And, Julie, this is a fact. Why? Because the base didn't want to believe it was a problem, so he didn't either. He only finally said to "take" the vaccine while "re-campaigning" recently in Alabama, to which the base loudly booed him... Why? Because if he had been more pro-active and HAD NOT SAID the virus will eventually go away and had acted in the best interest of Americans from the start, then waaaaaaay fewer people would have died. (Also note how his actions are always in respect to what the base wants not what is in the best interest of the people.)
JAN. 6 - How you can act like he, and/or his minion, Steve Bannon, didn't incite a riot on Jan. 6 is laughable, at best, and really quite sad, truth told. You speak of people being brainwashed? I WATCHED IT LIVE ON TV AND SAW WHAT HE SAID AND SAW WHAT HAPPENED AFTERWARDS! In fact, numerous individuals who committed treason that day have said that they believed, BELIEVED, Julie, in their hearts, souls and minds that Trump wanted an insurrection and that they were acting at his bequest. Keep drinking the right-wing Kool-aid, Julie, because while you claim people are sheep, you are, in fact, the one who is believing the lies and misdirection being spouted by the media to downplay their role and Trump's role AS THE LEADER OF THE NATION in the events of that day, which, by the way, was on the very same day that the vote was to be certified in Congress. Why was the rally that day instead of any other day? Take a moment to think on that and answer that question! Answer: TO STOP THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS because that day marked when the wanna-be-dictator's rule was coming to an end and he wanted to change the course of history and have himself inserted as a dictator. If he truly wanted a peaceful protest, then have it any other time other than that given day.
For all the good Trump did, and he did have his moments, that one singular action wiped out any good that he did over the previous four years because he betrayed the country, Julie. Pure and simple. No matter how much Fox News and the other propaganda channels want to spin it, TRUMP COMMITTED TREASON ON JANUARY 6...
"BLEACH" - I literally provided the full transcript where it is clear the context is UV light therapy and he never uttered the word "bleach". He discussed it because it was mentioned 20 minutes earlier and he was being positive about potential emerging therapeutics.
DeleteCORONAVIRUS - Your claiming that different actions from Trump would have resulted in a better outcome is pure speculation. He did the only important thing, made sure a vaccine got developed quickly. US actually did fine compared to other countries, especially given the number of fats and olds. Biden has certainly done no better.
JAN 6 - it was a very minor "riot" (compared to all the other BLM-inspired ones). Trump specifically called for peaceful protests. He believes the election had problems, as is his right. Hillary and the Dems did the EXACTLY THE SAME THING in 2016. Nobody has been charged with "insurrection" and there is zero proof Trump incited anything other than peaceful protests. Your hyperbola on the question is media-inspired, not common sense or fact-based.
Continuing my previous post...
ReplyDeleteHow many of these following signs are true of Trump? Signs that a leader wants to be a dictator...
https://www.mercurynews.com/2018/02/14/letter-signs-a-leader-wants-to-become-a-dictator/
#8 is the one I love the most. For 4 years, if not longer, #FakeNews is all we heard. Again and again and again. NOW, however, the news is true again as they take Biden to task for his many errors and people like you act like, yep, Biden - worse President EVER! I have no disillusions that Biden has many faults, as did Trump, but can rationally say that the news was NOT fake about Trump just like it isn't for Biden. Here's a truism: You can't have it both ways! The media was telling the truth on the things that the former Prez did and they are telling the truth on the things Biden does. To say the news is FAKE is to discredit the discerning eye that keeps not only Trump, but all Prezs, in line. And that, Julie, is why all of these conspiracy theories you spout are just that, theories.
Finally, here in America, the right wing is about ready to take on abortion rights thanks to the Supreme Court nominees Trump put in. Next up after that? The LGBTQ community. I find it most interesting that given your husband's and your lifestyle that you would EVER support the very people who would nose into your business and say that how you live your life is sending you to hell and that you must only have "vanilla sex."
Spankings? BMSD? Diapering? Humiliation? Daddy issues? fantasy and role playing? A sister who is gay? ALL the things that you so dearly love as evidenced by this blog would be gone in the ultra right-wing type of government you so brazenly and happily support. Of course, you are in Canada, so I guess what happens in the U.S. would not actually impact you.
Maybe one day YOU will wake up from the hypnosis that you are in and come to see that what you support is also what would take what you hold so dear away from you...
And that, my dear Julie, is also something that could happen. You talked before about "The Handmaid's Tale." Do you NOT see the similarities? Do you NOT discern that this series of books, which were written before Trump became President, are so much in line with the right's politics that it is mind-boggling?
I hope there comes a time when you see this and take corrective action to support policies that are inclusive and allow people to live their lives as they see fit because in America, right now and for its entire history, actually, there has never been liberty and justice for all.
Calm yourself.
DeleteThe news is not always fake nor always accurate, and sometimes very dishonest. I gave a bunch of examples in the post. Some news from the right about Biden is fake now also. You need to be discerning nowadays.
Roe vs Wade is a terrible legal decision. Even Ruth Bader-Ginsberg thought it was a bad legal decision, and she was upset about it because she felt the country was making real progress towards passing a law to make it legal.
You make the mistake of confusing an ultra-conservative fringe with middle of the road conservatives and libertarians like me. We argue for less government and more freedoms. Don't go extreme, it's super divisive.
You are not libertarian. You are alt-right.
DeleteAccording to the original Milo definition, I'll take that as a compliment. The hijacked white supremacist version, not even close. Though I doubt you understand the difference.
DeleteMilo? The guy who thinks child abuse is A-okay?
DeleteYou seem to not know much about Milo. He was sexually abused as a child and was making light of his own abuse as a coping mechanism. What kind of monster are you?
DeleteApologies for calling you "a monster". I was being snippy and rude. But I do know that Milo does not advocate adults having sex with minors. He has disavowed that many times. He has apologized for joking about his own experiences, and when he used the words "boys" and "older men" he was not taking about underage boys, but rather it's common "gay culture" thing to talk about "boys" as fuck partners when you mean young men. Just like I like to think of myself as a girl when I get it from my man.
DeleteGod bless America, God bless Texas and God bless Julie. I am 74 years old and have voted for both Democrats and Republicans for President. President Trump was by far the best of the lot. Like you, I don't get the hate. It shouldn't matter if people think he is the sorriest person in the world as long as he had America's best interest at heart. I believe his policies lifted America's status in the world and the American people as well. Joe Biden is as corrupt as they come and Kamala Harris is not ready for prime time.
ReplyDelete100% agreement here.
DeleteThat you think his policies lifted America's status in the world, and the American people, speaks of the enormity of American ignorance. The people of the world, and the countries of the world laughed at the United States when Trump was in power. You lost respect and status, not the other way around. Trump was such a horrible statesman he undid all the good an amazing statesman like Obama built.
DeleteDisagree. They may have made fun of him but they bowed and did his bidding. Biden they make fun of and ignore.
Deletesimply who cares? he is a one term loser president -and his support lost the senate. And ex presidents are irrelevant. He was a media darling and remains so from both "sides" . And he still attempts ( for the $$ it generates ) to state from the "office of the president" lol But he in actuality just a memory -and we click on those links because we are drawn to a "sh&^$t show"
ReplyDeleteI think you'll care a lot when he announces he's running for a 2nd term and wins the Republican nomination!
DeleteBingo! narcolmille.
DeleteTime will tell Julie. From across the border here in Canada, I cant wait for the comedy show.
Me too. Getting the popcorn ready!
Delete"American citizens attacked their own government," said McConnell, "they used terrorism to try to stop a specific piece of democratic business they did not like." But, he continued, "They did this because they had been fed wild falsehoods by the most powerful man on Earth - because he was angry he'd lost an election. Former President Trump's actions preceding the riot were a disgraceful dereliction of duty."
ReplyDeleteMitch McConnell
Don't throw RINOs and neocons in as if they were MAGA. They're closer to Dems on the dimension of "elites" versus the people.
DeleteMitch McConnell is a RINO? That is patently absurd
DeleteIf you just redefine "Republican" as "Trump-supporter" then you lose all credibility.
This is poor argumentation, Julie. You will not convince anyone of anything. You are just a flag-waver for the right.
And your spanking as punishment for your bullshit is also bullshit.
I think you are bad influence on society. You are clearly smart, and you are rich, with lots of time on your hands. So you could do good. But instead you are selfish and do harm, to entertain yourself and get bullshit spankings.
I used to want to meet you. But after reading your political stuff, I have zero desire to meet a person like you.
McConnel seems to be doing an awful lot of siding with Schumer lately, but he's not a RINO, just a swamp creature.
DeleteAnd note that I'm not responding to your incivility in kind. Incivility is what is bad for society, not different viewpoints.
DeleteMcConnell is a snake. He is a RINO when he needs to be one, a Trump supporter when he needs to be one etc., A party man for the ages. Cares zilch about what is good for the country.
DeleteAgreed. A swamp creature.
DeleteJulie, Julie, Julie. You aren't a fascist cunt. You have a cunt that is very pretty and apolitcal. I can't understand your political preferences. You skirt the most important reasons I don't want Trump anywhere near the White House:
ReplyDelete1. He cultivated Putin as a friend. He admires the man. Putin and Russia remain one of the biggest threats to America and the world. Did you hear the news this morning?
2. He tried to bypass the election. He still argues that he really won. Every single Republican senator and congressman agrees that the election was fair. He tried to install himself as a dictator.
3. He pulled the US out of the Paris Accord and set back the fight against global warming. You do believe in that, don't you?
4. His lack of leadership made COVID much worse here in the US. Early use of masks and better organization of vaccine distribution would have saved hundreds of thousands of lives. Biden (not my favorite either) had to start from scratch.
5. He raised the threat of Iran having nuclear weapons by withdrawing from the Iran nuclear treaty.
Some of his decisions were mainstream and fair. I am not arguing that he is pure evil. That's silly. He is crazy, I think. His admiration of dictators is concerning.
I don't agree with either of you about abortion and other conservative priorities. I am convinced that Trump is dangerous as a US president. He embarrassed our (my) country and set us back with our allied.
1. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Who shut down Nordstream? Who sent real weapons to Ukraine? Who increased NATO funding? Actions speak louder.
Delete2. It's clear there were many irregularities in the election, including many substantial last minute rule changes around Mail-in-ballots that heavily favoured Dems. Dems even bragged about that in a Time piece. And he did not "try to install himself as a dictator". That's crazy talk.
3. Good. Paris accord is bogus. Even if you believe the over-hyped claims of impending climate doom (I don't), you have to still recognize that without China and India doing anything, result is just economic devastation without any beneficial change. You get that, right?
4. Nonsense. Without Trump there would be no vaccine. US has faired quite well relative to other countries, even factoring out the percent olds and fats. Biden certainly has done no better.
5. Iran deal was useless, they were building nukes anyways.
Crazy as a fox, and see #1
I'm for choice in abortion. You against it? Surprising.
I'm for smaller government. You for even bigger government? Also surprising.
Biden is a much, much, much bigger embarrassment. The US was respected internationally under Trump. Not under Biden!
The US was disrespected under Trump. I mean you didnt see the video of Trudeau and Boris Johnson and a few other world leaders talking trash about Trump at the G7 summit something like that? lmao. Trump was an international embarrassment to the US. I am infact stating that as a matter of fact, not even as a Trump hater.
DeleteOf course they made fun, but they did Trump's bidding. They hated him for that.
DeleteThey didnt do anything Trump wanted. Anything they did was small potatoes or was already on the cards.
DeleteNorth Korea? Mideast peace deals, NATO partners? Trade deals? You don't know much about this topic, do you?
DeleteI'm grateful you can't vote in American elections. I suppose if you read the "right" news you can deny climate change. I want my grandkids to survive. I'm not going to convince you of anything. All I can say is that donald trump polarized America for his own gain. It's true that Biden is ineffectual. However, he is genuinely interested in the welfare of the United States.
DeleteI'm surprised you don't like big government. You live in Canada. Do you take advantage of government-supplied health care? We don't have it and trump was against it. You get prescription drugs for free or for less than half what we pay here. Big government did that.
It seems odd to me that you want America to do without what you take for granted. Do you also take for granted the billions of dollars we spend protecting Canada? It's easy to sit in Toronto and rail against big government in the United States.
I for one want my country to maintain good relations with our allies. I want it to provide health care to all. I want to be able to afford prescription drugs the way you can.
More importantly, I want all of us to do what we can to prevent global warming from making our planet uninhabitable.
You, sitting in Toronto, believe our elections were rigged. You write that mail ballots favored Democrats. I live in a state that only votes by mail. There has never been any fraud. You are right that mail ballots favor lower income voters. You know why? Poor people often don't have the means to physically go to a polling place. Some states require ID that many can't provide.
Don't you see the hypocrisy of a Canadian against big government in America when she happily reaps the benefits of the very things she thinks we shouldn't get here?
first of all, sorry for one of my above bullets starting with "nonsense". That was snippy and rude of me.
DeleteMy position on climate change is not influenced by political pundits, but on my reading of scientists and having it all explained carefully to me. There is some warming due to CO2 from FF, but it is way over-hyped in my opinion after having done this research.
I don;t see how Trump gained anything by being president. His net worth took a big drop, unlike many establishment politicians who seem to make out like bandits off their offices.
I like many aspects of a publicly funded health care system, and support it, but think there should also be private options (which is mostly not allowed in Canada) to attract and keep top doctors and carry out cutting edge treatments.
Our prescription drugs are not free. You need to be on a plan, just like in the US. It's true that drug companies charge more for the same thing in the US than elsewhere, but that seems more due to crony capitalism involving drug companies, insurance industry, and government, that Trump was working to fix.
I also support sufficient spending on the military, as it is one of the prime functions of government, even in the eyes of most libertarians.
I think your elections, with mass mail-in voting, lax residency and signature checks, and no id requirements, are essentially un-auditable as things stand, so goodness knows how "fair" they are. Many of us are suspicious because of huge late vote dumps heavily (like, near 100%) favoring Bidenin swing counties of swing states, and are also suspicious when you saw the entousiasm gap between Trump and Biden, and note that Trump got 11M more votes in 2020 than in 2016, and yet still managed to "lose" to a very poor ticket on the other side. Suspicious and un-auditable and wide open holes for potential fraud, plus illegal changes in procedures favouring Biden, plus courts avoiding all the cases - it just all looks suspicious (which is no proof of anything, I know).
Our election systems are highly auditable. A couple of years ago after I voted, I got a letter from the Washington (state) election admin. They said my signature on my ballot didn't match closely enough with what was on file. I had to prove who I was.
DeleteRabid Republicans want to blame bullshit rumors about registration and voting for Trump's loss. Evey single election audit - there were plenty - revealed no corruption and very little error.
The only reason Biden won by a small majority was that he is a weak candidate. A serious contender (NOT Hillary) would have done much better.
The Republican senate failed to support Trump's rather weak efforts to reform drug pricing. Biden is doing no better so far. The pharma lobby is massively funded.
According to the New York Times, the main reason Trump hides his financials is that he is worth much less than he claims.
Then you would agree that signature verification is a good thing. Unfortunately, in many jurisdictions that was almost entirely eliminated.
DeleteNone of the "audits" were in any way comprehensive, as the system itself is unauditable. Would be so easy to fix with blockchain or whatever,
Being worth less than you claim is not a crime. I mean, did you take at face value what Trump said he was worth?
I would say Biden upset US allies more seriously with his unilateral military withdrawal ,ditching the French submarine deal without informing them , closing the pipeline without consulting Canada , trying to kill the Canadian and Mexican auto industries with his US tax incentives , continuing to penalize Canadian lumber with tariffs even though the US lost the case in court, not to mention his senile ,bumbling ramblings at the G7 meetings and falling asleep at the climate change meeting.
ReplyDeleteSorry but Biden is the biggest embarrassment to the US bar none on the world stage.
Trump negotiated openly with our allies and others and they knew where the US stood ,compared to Biden who stabs them in the back like a coward.
I agree 100% with that.
Deletecage lion. you are 100 percent right he was crazy and very dangerous to the world and the GOP Are no better they are extreme right wing , and here why 1 they hate poor people ,and they gave tax cuts to the rich 2 no compassion , selfish 3 lie all the time 4 support conservative right wing evangelical who make money to help them self to get rich with mansions and plains, 5 against democracy . stopping people from voting. with the new laws they bring in , 6 Gun happy
ReplyDeleteYou've been sold a real bill of goods about what conservatism stands for. You really think so badly about ~50% of the planet who espouses conservative beliefs? Sad.
DeleteConservative beliefs and cultural values are outdated and dont have a place in our society. Truth. Conservative values will always lose at the end of the day. Its the way of the world.
DeleteI think decency wins out in the end, and conservatives have a lot of common decency,
DeleteThe notion of decency is relative. Many conservative ideals lack decency and humanity.
DeleteIt's cause you don't understand most of them you say that.
DeleteApologies for the snippiness of some of my comments above.
DeleteThere is a big difference between conservative values: fiscal and social, and the doctrine preached by Trump & Co. Small government doesn't necessarily mean a strong military and weak social support systems. However, that's what he pushed. Trump was highly nationalistic. I'm not against that. We don't owe the world protection and subsidy. I am also sympathetic to his position on uncontrolled immigration. I am a moderate. There are less and less of us nowadays.
DeleteI don't think you understand the frightening nature of Trump and his band of thieves. He was willing to do anything to stay in power. The military was prepared to evict him if he didn't leave the White House. He tried to convince his followers (very heavily weighted in favor of less-educated, lower-middle-class white people) to forcibly take over the capital. Even if I agreed with all of his policies, I would still want him out. He is a dangerous, amoral dictator-in-training.
I don't think you have any evidence at all that Trump intended to stay in office regardless. In fact, he left office very normally, which ought to give lie to your conspiracy theory, no?
DeleteAmerican Nationalism is cancer. Its one of the worst things about the Trump presidency.
DeleteI disagree. I think nationalism is a healthy thing compared to the alternative, a "one world government" run by some organization like the EU or the UN. Yuck!
DeleteNationalism is just another form of racism. My country is better than your country (and therefore we are better than you as a people) type of chest thumping. The alternative to nationalism is not a one world govt (and EU and UN are not one world govts). Its just an accepting decent society.
DeleteThere are lots of different races inside a country, so by definition not racist. A country is a way of doing things, and if you are accepted for immigration you agree to abide by the rules and customs and norms of that country.
DeleteEU is a step towards one-world govt, an experiment along those lines if you will, and not a successful one.
When you immigrate you dont agree to abide by the norms or customs of the country you immigrate to. You only agree to abide by the laws of the country. Also this is one of those things I spoke about in another post, where by definition things appear not racist or can be explained away as not racist. However in practice out here in the west, nationalism is really a form of white ethno-nationalism. How many nationlistic black and brown people have you come across?
DeleteAlso one flaw in your logic in your previous post is that a country is not ONE way of doing things. There are different ethnicities, cultures etc within a country, and that includes immigrants as well. So "way of doing things" is many. Nationalism objects to it and forces the dominant demographic groups "way of doing things" on everybody else. Hence racist, xenophobic and ethnocentric.
DeleteBen Carson, Candace Owens, Condoleezza Rice, Larry Elder, Clarence Thomas, Diamond and Silk, Hodge Twins, Barack Obama (I hope!), Kamala Harris (I hope!), there are plenty!
DeleteI understand why you say nationalism is racism, because you're looking at racial distribution outcomes (eg, Africa must be very anti-white racist because of the low number of whites. Norway must be very racist because they are mostly white). I don't think along those lines. I judge racism based on the laws and customs and majority of people actively discriminating on racial grounds. I don't see that in Canada or the US.
Immigrants ought to abide by the norms and customs. If I immigrated to Japan, for instance, I would not get very far if I did not respect and abide by Japanese cultural norms. If I immigrated to a Muslim majority country I had best cover my hair. Of course this is not necessarily in conflict with maintaining your traditions as well when they are not in conflict.
I think those are just examples of politicians and just because they are POC politicians doesn't mean they are nationalistic regardless of what they might say (they will say anything to gain votes). However, I am really talking about numbers in the general population. You wont find many black, brown and asian people being nationalistic the way white people usually are.
DeleteNo I am not looking at racial distribution outcomes. I am talking about nationalism as being a racist, xenophobic and ethnocentric ideal. In the west, nationalism is often time used to shove cultural values, ideas, ways of thinking, way of life etc on people regardless of what their beliefs maybe. Often times people who are nationalistic are not accepting of other points of view, cultures, traditions or way of life. Hence racist. Nationalists also have a very thin skin and dont take to criticism very well. If an immigrant criticizes certain things they observe as being backward or wrong (and rightfully so), a nationalist will usually ask them to "go back to where they came from if they didn't like it so much". Therefore my conclusion is that nationalism makes for an uncivil society where differing ideas are not accepted and it just promotes one kind of thinking.
Also immigrants are not required to abide by norms and customs. I mean yes, to the extent that it involves etiquette, communication, how you relate/deal with people etc, yes you would need to abide by the norms of the country you immigrate to. But you dont have to abide by traditions (say watching hockey or celebrating Valentines Day), cultural values (like say dating and premarital sex common in the west), religious practices, personal values, food habits etc that you are not comfortable with.
Japan, Muslim majority countries, a lot of Asia are are also very ethnocentric and nationalistic places, so my criticism of nationalism extends to those kinds of countries as well.
Can you back your statement up with polling stats? And as you say below, Asian people, such as the Japanese or the Chinese, or Singaporeans, seem very nationalistic. I don't get your point. What does race have to do with it? We're all people, and we all behave in roughly similar fashions. African peoples are highly tribal, which is a similar concept.
DeleteAnd yes, we mean the same thing about abiding with local laws and customs after you immigrate.
It has everything to do with race because nationalism in the west is really just ethnonationalism fueled by several things like racial identity, racial resentment and demographic change. It is at the very least xenophobic. Regardless of what that is, it isn't healthy as you mentioned in your previous comment. Patriotism, sure. Nationalism, no.
DeleteAnd yes I think we have common ground on abiding by laws and customs etc.,
On the ask for polls, I mostly comment based on personal experiences. I did however read a study (way back, I forget what it was called or where) published after the 2016 Trump win, about how racial identity, ethnonationalism, racial resentment, changing demographics played a crucial role in support for Trump and his presidency. These characteristics that are often misinterpreted as "love the country", "making America great" etc., are in reality just hatred for anyone who isn't white or anyone who doesn't embrace "white ideals".
You seem to be playing word games with me. If you define "nationalism" as bad and motivated by racial hatred, and "patriotism" as good and motivated by love of country, then of course I agree bad is bad and good is good!
DeleteAnd calling all, or a significant part, of Trump supporters as racists is just plain inaccurate and divisive (and pretty paranoid).
Where am I playing word games? I am consistent in my criticism of nationalism as racist, xenophobic and ethnocentric. I was just expanding on it in my subsequent posts.
DeleteAlso I am not calling all Trump supporters as racist. I said nationalism (or racism if you want to reduce it to that) played a crucial role in his win in 2016. Even Roger Stone who consulted for Trump during his campaign said that hate is a bigger motivator than love. They relied on that for their win.
I agree it played a role, but not a crucial one. Dems stoked racial hatred, fear of "white nationalism", fear of Covid, and an irrational fear of Trump to get their win.
DeleteIf you are really interested, check out this documentary called America's Great Divide by PBS. Infact on youtube they have full interviews of Steve Bannon and several other people from both sides. You'd see how manipulative and sinister that entire movement really is.
DeleteThanks, watching it now on your reco. I did previously see the full Bannon interview from which this documentary takes its clips, and that was fine. I hope they did not edit it all out of context. I'll let you know.
DeleteYes Bannon is a skilled strategist and very cunning in how he presents his brand of politics even though the implications of his policies are quite nefarious. But he fundamentally understands how to get those republican votes and the divide between the people and the political elites.
DeleteCheck out part 1 (for some reason part 1 is not on youtube) on docsonline.tv - https://www.docsonline.tv/americas-great-divide-part-1/
DeleteI watched both parts. Unfortunately there are so many things in there where it was so obviously slanted (false "facts", omissions, spin, selective edits) that I knew of, on things where I had the facts and the full context, that it removes credibility from anything it states. It's naked propaganda. It's a very, very poor reference for you. It just feeds your own echo chamber.
DeleteNothing "nefarious" about what Brannon says and does. He's very transparent, wants to drain the swamp, wants to appeal to the base who elected Trump.
What were those things that were propaganda?
DeleteBTW its one of the most unbiased documentaries with people from both sides commenting along with the entire history of how things unfolded from 2008 until 2020 is presented. It is a great reference for anyone seeking to understand the divide. Its not like it is a documentary that pushes liberal agenda - infact there are plenty of criticisms of Obama in there. Its just very objective.
DeleteHa ha! The documentary just repeated the "fine people hoax" in full. RIP PBS.
DeleteThat wasn't a hoax at all. I already mentioned that your "debunk" was not a debunk at all. It is from a conservative think tank making slick videos manipulating facts.
DeleteMuch more interesting are the full uncut interviews with Coulter and Bannon.
DeleteI checked the fine people hoax link you sent earlier. There is a fundamental error in what Trump said. ALL of the right wingers that attended the Unite the Right Rally were either neo nazis or neo nazi sympathizers. So those "others" Trump is referring to are also essentially neo nazis. So the fine people hoax is not a hoax at all.
DeleteHere's the source materials: https://www.finepeoplehoax.net/
DeleteRead/view it in context and it debunks itself.
Untrue - the whole thing began as a rally for and against statues. And at any rate, Trump clearly understood that was the case (whether or not true in your opinion) and he mentioned those people explicitly as the "fine people" he was referring to. The video covers that in detail. You should view it more carefully.
The Unite the Right Rally was organized by Jason Kessler and Richard Spencer - both neo nazis. They had Tikki Torch holding rallies yelling "Jews will not replace us". So yes the rally was to promote white nationalist, neo nazi ideologies under the pretext of protesting a statue removal. So yes people who attended the rally, called for by neo nazis, were either neo nazis or neo nazi sympathizers. The link you provided, is the same one I used. And its clear that Trump himself didnt understand this distinction. Hence my conclusion that the other people he was referring to, were also essentially just neo nazis.
DeleteAnd going up several comments, if you think that doc was "unbiased" because it lobbed a few softball criticisms at Obama, like "his biggest regret was that he could not unite the country despite Republicans being unwilling to compromise at all", then you are too deep into your bubble. Seek out a doc or book from the right to get some balance. Try Trump Card for example.
DeleteYes, that was the bad rally. They overlapped that with the statue protests. Don't rewrite history.
DeleteYes, he really was that bad. But if you choose not to step back and consider that possibility, then why even ask the question? I have a huge amount of respect for the hugely positive role that you have online, but on this topic, I cannot reconcile your incredible positivity and open-mindedness with your support for someone who is everything that our country's founders warned us against.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, on the Internet, it is now possible to find "information" (memes, lists, whatevers) that will support any position, including this one that you choose to hold. If you want to understand more about the damage that he did, then I encourage you to sit down face to face with people who disagreed with him on policy, on morality, and on the future path that the country should be on. My writing something here will be pissing into the wind, but time spent with a respected friend, face to face, could be a good investment for you both.
Wishing you the best in your ongoing process of discovery, and with the utmost respect,
Calvin
Hi Calvin, I've done that many times in my real-life. In fact I lead off the article saying what the typical, face-to-face response was.
DeleteI notice you don't at all comment on the various hoaxes I listed above. Do you now agree those are hoaxes? If not, let's debate one of your choice.
And do you dispute any of the policy wins I listed? If you do, let's discuss.
Or if you think he did massive harm in some other area not addressed in the above comments, please bring it on.
The vagueness you bring is not conducive to changing my mind. I am hoping the specificity of what I wrote might change the mind of an open-hearted person.
One of the hoaxes that you commented on - the "fine people hoax", and the video you linked, was by a conservative think tank, that makes these slick manipulative videos misstating facts. That video is pointless and therefore you havent debunked anything on that one.
DeleteWell there are plenty of places you can read the full transcript or see the unedited video. Links from here: https://www.finepeoplehoax.net/
DeleteMs. Julie....Again I applaud you for being willing to draw the heat by posting the truth!!!
ReplyDeleteWas President Trump perfect? No....no one is perfect...but he was close...
No one has pointed out that as the China virus began to creep around the world, which President Trump mentioned in his State of the Union address....remember the one that Pelosi tore up....anyways,,,while he was aware of it and talking about it all the Democrats were talking about was Impeachment...
Of course it was a distraction...and it couldn't have happened at a worse time...and it was a partisan hit job which took one of the rarest and most important things congress is responsible for and turned it into just another political weapon...
The second one was even worse....
The one thing that opened my eyes wide was when my liberal wife told me that while she didn't like Trump as a person, he'd done a fine job as a President and she voted for his re-election!!!
He made promises and did his best despite a hostile bureaucracy and a vicious press working hard against him from the day he came down the escalator to today!!!
Thanks for debunking the myths although I don't think it will change a single mind...these days we choose truth over facts to quote our current President...
Again I have to say it....Bravo Ms. Julie....Bravo!!!
Kisses
Kaaren
Thank you Kaaren.
DeleteI wonder: Do you really not see what a narcissist he is, or do you guys see it and just dont care?
DeleteThey dont care. Trump's agenda suits them, so they dont care. For others Trump's agenda hurts them, so he is the devil. People are ultimately selfish and political opinions are just a reflection of that. Hah.
DeleteYup, he's a Grandiose Narcissist. They get off on being admired for accomplishing things.
DeleteAfter reading Bob Woodward's book Rage, I could never vote for Trump. Trump knew first hand of the seriousness of Covid and went on to lie to the American people. He is quoted as saying he downplayed the seriousness by calling it the Chinese flu etc. Poor leadership and cost thousands of lives.
ReplyDeleteWoodward is the "worse that Watergate!" pundit on CNN? He's a dishonest broker, singing for his supper for sure.
DeleteIn the early days nobody knew much about the virus, staying calm was considered important. But, behind the scenes he was already working furiously to prepare and calling for travel from China to be shut down while the Democrats (Biden and Pelosi amongst them) were calling it racist and Xenophobic. If Biden had been in, 100's of 1000's more would have perished by his bumbling hand. You KNOW that's true!
No that’s Carl Bernstein. Bob Woodward is the author that interviewed President Trump for many hours and published multiple books on his administration.
DeleteIs Woodward better than Bernstein, or are they about the same?
DeleteI listened to the tape recorded interview with Trump himself. He admits to downplaying the severity as outlined to him by the medical experts.
DeleteThat was the message from all leaders at that time. Keep calm because we don't know what we're dealing with yet. I was impressed that he projected calm while very actively taking tough measures behind the scenes to prepare. I think that's what we want in our leaders?
DeleteYou want one specific thing? His poor speaking skills. Maybe he forgot to take that class in college. Also he treated his presidency like his TV show..."You're fired!" I wonder if he set a record in that department.
ReplyDeleteHe speaks in a way that he can be understood by millions of otherwise dispossessed Americans. It's such a joke that you say he has poor speaking skills when he weekly commanded the attention of an audience of 60,000 or more at his rallies, engaging them for a couple of hours. Can you claim better? Can anybody?
DeleteAnd he didn't fire enough of those swamp creatures if you ask me!
DeleteHe got himself fired back to the swamp where he belongs instead. Great!
DeleteSwamp refers to Washington insiders. Whatever Trump is, he isn't that!
DeleteApologies where i say "it's such a joke" - that was snippy and rude of me.
DeleteRemember, all the people he fired were also hired by him, no?
DeleteAs far as I'm concerned we haven't had a good President since Clinton. He was the only one that balanced the budget!
Yes, it was a dilemma. He needed swamp creatures to work the system.
DeleteWasn't Clinton the one impeached for sticking a cigar into an intern's pussy while getting a blowjob from her in the oval? While married? And also credibly accused of sexual assault by several women, and had a frequent flyer card on Epstein's Lolita express? And enriched himself absurdly from his and his wife's stints in public office? No thank you on that guy! Creepy.
Ok, Trump"s the greatest thing since canned beer, everyone else is crap. Happy?
DeleteI didn't say that, but yes I think Trump is one of the better ones in modern times. Reagan also. And Kennedy all too briefly.
DeleteAll of the world's governments are failing, and there's a good reason:
ReplyDeleteOld people can vote. And this never happened in the past because life expectancies are longer all over the world than they ever had been before. The senility of the world's population is aberrant for the way that existing governments were functionally built.
Someone Nancy Pelosi's age, someone Joe Biden's age, someone Mitch McConnel or Donald Trump's age are all way, way too old to vote, let alone lead.
Even "younger" politicians like Justin Trudeau are the product of older Canadians voting. Emmanuel Macron and Boris Johnson as well.
It's not simply an issue of "get out the vote", this is an issue of signal over noise. Older voters must be disenfranchised for anyone to do better. The first country to find a way to effectively disenfranchise older voters is going to be the country that wins, whether democratic or authoritarian.
That's an interesting perspective, but very arguable. Perhaps the wisdom of older voters is a benefit? And if the people don't want old politicians, they ought not vote for them I suppose.
DeleteThere should be an age cap on who can run for office. Just like people retire at a certain age. That would ensure that people who are in power are relevant to current times. There are too many dinosaurs in the US political system.
DeleteLet voters decide.
DeleteUnrealistic to "let voters decide". Socrates said that voting is a skill, and he was right. People who are 60+ in this current generation have a track record of being bad at governance, and they're only getting worse at this most consequential skill.
DeleteDr. Jordan Peterson correctly points out that Fluid IQ begins to decline at 40 years old, and crystalized IQ at 70. Trump and Biden both DO NOT HAVE THE CAPACITY to deal with new problems at their age. Neither do a majority of voters. This is just biology.
"Let the voters decide" is a wait-and-see fallacy. Letting the elderly make any more decisions ensures that bad decisions will be made-- the question is if you want to see the world improve or if you just want to have political content for your BDSM blog.
I agree that Biden is past his best before date. Trump still seems very sharp.
DeleteThere is nothing more dangerous in this world than a dumb person who insists they're actually very smart.
ReplyDeleteI'd say a snarling lion is more dangerous. Or an angry grizzly bear! Actually, there's lots of things more dangerous than that.
DeleteThat very much depends on what kind of power and influence the stupid person has.
DeleteWhether Donald Trump is stupid or overestimates his own abilities I'll leave as undetermined, as I have no personal knowledge of the man, and neither the media, nor his supporters or opponents can really be classed as unbiased sources of information on the issue. But I'll be honest and say that some of the statements about how Trump behaved in his presidency, i.e. his supposed reluctance to read and study various briefs etc. in detail, before making decisions, are things I find concerning, if they are assumed to be true. I'm also not sure that his approach to international diplomacy did America any favors in the long run. And in any case, you can't deny that a person with the power of a president, can have the potential for causing negative long term consequences, through bad decision making, based on an overestimation of their abilities or knowledge of a given subject.
On a smaller scale, a CEO that makes bad decisions can run a company into the ground, and leave their employees unemployed. An investment manager can make shitty investments and wipe out the fortunes of a lot of customers and so on.
None of these things may be more immediately dangerous than an enraged predator with the capacity to kill you, but in the bigger picture they can cause more harm to a greater number of people and their surroundings and community.
I thought they were referring to me (I think I'm pretty smart 😊), and I made a joke. ha ha.
DeleteFact is, Trump spent 4 years in office, under the greatest strain imaginable, fighting off lies from the opposition the entire time, and made no terribly bad decisions, and many good ones. I gave you his list of accomplishments. No wars started during his presidency. Troop reductions all over the place, great domestic success. I think presidents who start wars (Bush Jr - "weapons of mass destruction" - Obama and his secret drone bases, allowing ISIS to grow, plunging Libya into chaos), are far more dangerous than ones who don't.
Trump preferred being briefed orally and succinctly. Seems to have been a successful method.
Julie,
ReplyDeleteWhile I would go along with the broad thrust of your panegyric, I am saddened when I compare Presidert Herbert Hoover to President Donald Trump as I mark how swift has been the decline in standards across the board. This recognition of Jerusalem in flagrant disreg of international law and ageements as the capital of Israel was but the quid pro quo for the Adelsons financing.( Though Biden has not moved to reverse it.) The US seeing the Golan as not being part of Syria flagrantly flies in the face of UN resolutions and the will of the mainly Druze inhabitants. Nightly Israeli bombing of Syria and its support of ISIS do nothing for peace while the US backing of Saudi bombing in Yemen has led to massive childhood starvation and a humanitarian disaster.. So the idea of a comprehensive peace agreement exists only n the North American media and think tank papers. Since those are what you consume, I fear they have persuaded you of their objectivity.
Anyway thanks for your taking on the task of defending Trump against
his many critics. Watching CNN for five minutes or so a day was enough to convince me he must have been doing some things right.
Did not many US Presidents promise to move the embassy during election campaigns, and only Trump did?
DeleteIsrael has been occupying Golan for an age now, and no way are they ceding that high ground to give their enemies a platform to rain death and destruction on them again.
Of course there are still many, many troubles in the Middle East, but I hope we can agree that the Abraham Accords are progress getting the UAE and Bahrain to recognize Israel and normalize relations.
New nickname?
ReplyDeleteJulie, thank you for the well written post.
ReplyDeleteAs for all the hate in the replies,
no person is as sure of what he believes as is the person that has been told what to believe.
It really comes out in the comments, doesn't it? All vague statements of hatred for the man with no backing evidence. No acknowledgment of the 6 hoaxes - it's as if they don't care or are incapable of processing they've been lied to. I guess it's some sort of psychological coping mechanism? And no rebuttals on his policy accomplishments or acknowledgement of them at all from most. Amazing the impact of the media brainwashing. And the irony is they believe themselves to be righteous and any supporters of Trump to be vile and beneath contempt. The intolerant left. Fascinating!
DeleteP.S. Sorry for the tone of the above reply towards my commenters who disagree with my point of view. It was needlessly snippy and rude.
DeleteYour dedication to reply to every comment is impressive to say the least. And thank you for that, Julie.
ReplyDeleteOn the topic of the post, well, by default, I like my politicians "grilled" and underappreciated - even the good ones. The benefit of idolized politicians is little to none in my opinion.
Trump, in particular, may be the most "appreciated as a lone figure" politician in the history of American politics. And it seems like a strong unfavourable opinion of his Republican predecessors, his Republican own cabinet members, and even his own Republican Vice President, is expected from the majority of his supporters. As if he, and He alone, can get it done; all other people are either a docile cheerleaders of the Supreme Leader, or an enemy of the state. This is more of a North Korean style of governing than the U.S.
His uniqueness and "one-ness" is, therefore, established by both sides of the argument. To hypothesize that the "never Trumpers", and "Trump haters" in both parties, and across all political, ideological, national, etc. spectra, are just... the product of the media brainwashing the liberals - seems biased.
It's just not "usual" to have all those life-long Republicans, picked by him in many cases, such as the Vice President, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, Senate Majority Leader, etc. be off-the-mark entirely, and motivated solely by personal, or trivial reasons in their abnormal relation with their party's president.
Trump, in my humble opinion, showcased the strength of the American government to mitigate a disastrous presidency in an extraordinary fashion. That's not to say that playing with matches to test the fire protection system is a good idea.
As for an objective (well, as far as non-partisan objectivity can get) criticism of Trump's presidency, I suggest reading many an article (and sometime whole books) written by staunch Republican (some from his own administration)that paint a clear picture of his narcissistic and volatile style of presidency. One very famous example of those is the NYT Op-Ed written by Miles Taylor (anonymously back then, and was given a lot of attention at the time of its publishing)and the book that followed it by the same author.
Yes, I apologize for the one-sided nature of my post and earlier replies - you make some very good points and it certainly is not exclusively the media narrative that turned many against Trump.
DeleteI don't think the comparison with the North Korean dictator is a very good one. Trump followed all the laws and left office when elected out, fairly or not.
What you see with many Republican detractors is not the traditional Dem/Rep division, but more an entrenched interests versus outsider division, which is a big part of why he got elected. Trump had the dilemma that he needed the establishment Republicans to work the system, knowing they would stab him in the back at the first opportunity (which many did, and which may still backfire with the populist base).
You claim his presidency is disastrous, yet I think I made a pretty good case that he accomplished a lot, so I remain unswayed by your naked opinion on that one.
I don;t know how much of the Miles Taylor book can be trusted, honestly. It seems more one-sided than even me ;-)
I'm going to add some food for thought to this conversation from a Black Man's perspective.
ReplyDeleteIn the four years that Trump was in office, Black America began to prosper both economically and politically. And this was due primarily to the point that the proverbial boot was off our collective necks for the first time in decades.
Established businesses began to prosper once more. Newer businesses were established and began to thrive. Our political knowledge began to mature because the veil that blended us to the truth of politics have been lifted. The World saw us as a targeted people in a land that we had built. And we began to unite once more.
In just under 3 months following Biden's inauguration all of that was dramatically threatened.
Once again Black America being the focus of scorn and contempt. Every crime in atrocity done in this country laid on our shoulders. Wonder results of that being the anti-asian violence crime bill would gave them Federal level protection while Black Americans are still fully targeted.
Quite frankly there is a rather long list of grievances done by the by the Biden administration that has directly negatively affected Black America in just these past few months alone. But I hope this brief summary has made my point.
Trump was not a perfect president. I doubt one will ever exist. But in his own crazy way he was openly honest. Perhaps too honest which was why the power that be didn't want him there any longer.
Biden with his personal anti-black policy an issues is attempting to either pacify the Black voice or replace our voting power.
That is not going to happen.
Yeah, and the democrats are losing Hispanics because they insist on using bullshit terms like "latinx", which a majority of actual Latinos find offensive. Tone-deafness to minority issues is a common pattern for democrats. This isn't a surprise. But hey, they "gave" you a half-black woman VP... aren't you just elated? Feh.
DeleteFocusing on where you say "Trump was not a perfect president", that's exactly the problem. The structure of the party primary system ensures that voters will never have the optimal candidate as the option, and instead will always be stuck choosing for the "lesser of two evils."
That's literally all that the Trump candidacy (let alone presidency) was about. He ran against like 8 party Republicans during the primary. And even though he's not especially competent or experienced, he won out because the party was and is ultimarely sick of business as usual.
Trump, and discussions about Trump, are all orbiting the real issue: American politics is hobbled and inefficient by political elitists.

When comment wars go on like this, I get especially fascinated by the forceful idiocy and courage of that person named "Anonymous".
Well, we're all anonymous to some extent, but it's an extra level to not even risk a stable anonymous Internet presence (like ours) by not signing things. Also really inconvenient not knowing which anonymous is which in the comments!
DeleteHahahahahaha!
ReplyDeleteLooks like julie has been apologizing on all of her snippy comments. Thanks David for that spanking and setting julie straight! Looking forward to that blog post as well? ;)

Doh...
DeleteOMG! Just read your new blog post. He got it right. You WERE spanked for your snippy tone. Ha ha ha ha ha! How does that make you feel, little jules?
